Background Information on Kennedy Library
The Robert E. Kennedy Library is in the forefront of supporting Cal Poly's unique educational mission by collecting and preserving traditional and digital collections, fostering active learning environments in the library as well as anywhere/anytime online access, and supporting the University's scholarly publishing efforts. To facilitate this process, the Library assigns subject specialist College Librarians to work proactively in each of Cal Poly's colleges, and uses its technical specialists to develop and support a wide range of academic technology. The Library also contains archival collections on California architects and architecture, local and regional history, and fine printing and graphic arts.

- PolyConnect Lab
- Provides two Smart Labs and an Open Access Smart Lab.
- Computing Resources
- Provide a variety of hardware, software, and technical support, including wireless laptop check-out.
- Adaptive Technology Center
- Is equipped with a voice-activated computer and computers with screen reading and enlarging programs, a Braille printer, closed circuit television (print enlarger) and tactile image enhancer. The Adaptive Technology Center is a collaboration between Library Services and the Disability Resource Center.
- Wireless Internet
- Is available throughout the entire library, allowing users to work online via their own laptops.
- Online Services
- Provides online services and collections of databases, online journals, and electronic resources are available at the library, in the dorm, or off campus.
- Laptop Borrowing
- Allows students, faculty and staff to check out laptop computers for use while in the Library.
- Learning Commons
- Provides students and faculty with a number of smart labs available for scheduled classes, open-access labs, and modern collaborative workspaces, complete with the latest technological, print and electronic resources. An oversized and specialty (CAD) printing service, scanners, and wireless laptop checkout are also available. Staffed by expert student assistants, the Learning Commons desk offers technical and research assistance during all open library hours. The Learning Commons is a collaboration between Library Services, Information Technology Services, and the Center for Teaching and Learning.
