Mission
To provide information and guidance to the Cal Poly community on intellectual property procedures and policies. To help expedite copyright permissions for teaching and research for both faculty and students. To see that compliance for Fair Use of library materials is addressed, and to direct copyright, patent and trademark registration efforts to appropriate available library or agency resources.
Purpose
To further scholarly research at Cal Poly by helping with everyday efforts to use scholarly materials through fair use, permissions or licensing.
Services
- Provides information and guidance to the Cal Poly community on copyright procedures, fair use, and permissions.
- Provides guidance to library personnel on library fair use.
- Provides services to faculty, staff, and students dealing with registration of materials, permissions, and licensing. Permissions services include finding copyright owner(s), sending permissions letters, providing permissions policies for the library's online full text database publishers.
- Provides workshops on copyright issues, fair use, patents and trademarks, and current Cal Poly and CSU policies.
