City & County Codes — California
Cities and counties may adopt the codes of the state in which they fall or use the model codes to create their own regulations which reflect local conditions.
Most current city and county codes are now available online. A few examples are listed below. For other jurisdictions, a Google search such as "mendocino county code" or "ventura municipal code" should find the code you're looking for. You then need to identify which "Title" covers building and construction.
