Communicate Information Effectively

Presenting Research and Intelligence Gathering Findings

In the business world delivering a professional topnotch presentation is not only essential -- it is expected!

Most experts suggest having a friend video tape you practicing your presentation at least two weeks before you must deliver it. Using the guide below, be sure to critique the performance carefully and honestly. In addition, ask a seasoned presenter to review and critique the tape with you.

Regardless of how great the content is, if it is not communicated well, the presentation will not be successful.

When preparing to deliver a presentation, keep in mind the following guidelines:

Content

  • Present relevant and appropriate material for the audience's knowledge level
  • Acknowledge the audience's expectations and concerns
  • Integrate sufficient authoritative resources and support materials to add depth to the presentation
  • Offer interesting examples for the audience and specific situation

Organization

  • Grabs the audience's attention
  • States and follows clear agenda
  • Summarizes the essence of main points
  • Closes with a strong final statement and request for action
