Academic Journal Rankings: Quantitative Resources
As the Business and Agribusiness Librarian I am often asked by faculty to provide quantitative information about journal rankings, most frequently cited journals, and high-impact journals. More often than not, the information will be used to: Provide support for the RPT process Determine how many times - and in what journals - a faculty member's articles are cited Establish quantitative and weighted frameworks to benchmark with peers Identify relevant scholarly and refereed journals for article submissions Rank journals in a specific field The following select resources provide comprehensive journal and article-specific data.

Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities "Since Cabell Publishing, Inc. was founded in 1978, our goal has been to help professors, graduate students and researchers publish their manuscripts. To achieve this goal, the company strives to maintain current information on the addresses, phone, e-mail and websites for a large number of journals. Also, the company seeks to provide information on publication guidelines and review information. Currently we offer printed and electronic versions. The electronic versions allow subscribers to view this information online. The online version allows us to update the information more frequently. Also, it grants easier access and availability. At present, the company publishes directories of publishing opportunities in the following areas: Accounting Economics and Finance Management Marketing Each Directory helps you select those journals that are most likely to publish your manuscript. The index in each Directory helps you match the characteristics of your manuscript to the topic areas the journal emphasizes, the type of review process, acceptance rate and number of external reviewers. To further assist you in organizing and preparing your manuscripts, each Directory includes extensive information on the style and format of most journals. If a journal has its own set of manuscript guidelines, a copy of these guidelines is published in the Directory. Also, each entry indicates the use of a standard set of publication guidelines by a journal. For example, some journals use the Chicago Manual of Style or the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. Furthermore, each Directory describes the type of review process used by the editor(s) of a journal, number of reviewers, acceptance rate, time required for review, availability of reviewers’ comments, fees charged to review or publish the manuscript, copies required and manuscript topics. Dissertations - Doctoral and Master's
ABI/Inform ABI/Inform offers a collection of full text dissertation through ProQuest Business Dissertations. Simply search by a topic and add the word "Dissertation" in a drop box (citation and abstract). When the results list appears select the Dissertations tab to view the collection of dissertations. ProQuest Business Dissertations Ultimately consisting of 10,000 full text dissertations. ProQuest Business Dissertations includes doctoral dissertations and master's theses. The database includes work from over 1,000 colleges and universities from 1990s to 2003. Content in ProQuest Business Dissertations will cover the following topics: Business Administration (General Business; Accounting; Banking; Management; Marketing) and Economics (Commerce-Business; Finance; History; Labor; Theory).

It provides access to millions of online records built from the bibliographic and ownership information of contributing libraries. With more than 74 million bibliographic records and 1 billion individual holdings,WorldCat is the largest and most comprehensive database of its kind. From the search page enter a dissertation topic (e.g., lean manufacturing). Next, scroll down to the Subtype Limits > Any Content drop box. Select Thesis/dissertation.
